Amazon Aurora is Compatible with MySQL 5.7
The MySQL 5.7-compatible edition of Amazon Aurora is now generally available. It offers enhancements such as JSON support, spatial indexes, and generated columns, and is up to 5x faster than MySQL 5.7.
Aurora’s native implementation of spatial indexing also delivers >20x better write performance and >10x better read performance than MySQL 5.7 for spatial datasets. Read the AWS Database Blog for insights into how this is accomplished, and read more in the Amazon Aurora documentation.
The release is available in all 13 regions where Aurora with MySQL compatibility is supported, namely US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), US West (N. California), Canada (Montreal), Europe (Ireland), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (London), Europe (Paris), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Seoul), and Asia Pacific (Mumbai).
